I have always loved being around animals — they truly are your best friend and the best emotional support.
When I was 10 years old, I got to experience having a family pet — a beautiful Golden Labrador called Dolly. It was love at first sight, and I was lucky enough to spend 12 wonderful years with her.
Dolly was the best dog I could have ever asked for. Even people who didn’t like dogs ended up falling in love with her.
She helped me through so much — teenage dramas, family losses, and heartbreaks. Whenever I had a difficult day at school, I would come home, drop my bag, grab Dolly, and go out for long walks. After just a few hours, I would feel like a completely new person. She had a way of taking away all my worries and stress.
I remember once taking Dolly for a 6-hour walk around Hatfield Forest because I loved spending time with her so much. The next day, she slept all day, and my parents joked, “What did you do to Dolly?!”
She meant everything to me, and I would have done anything for her. She made me realise just how happy being around animals makes me feel, and how much I wanted to share that feeling with others.
This business is something I have always dreamed of doing, and Lois’s Pet Paradise is in honour of Dolly — my first love, and the dog who started my passion for animals. I want to carry on her legacy by giving other animals the same love, care, and happiness that she gave me.
